Maryland State Girls Chess Championship
February 9th, 2008
Riderwood Elementary
In Two Sections:
Championship : K-12(MD Residents only) 5SS, G/40
Winner will be the Maryland representative to the Polagar Invitational. Trophies to top 10 overall. Plaques to the top 3 Middle School (6-8), Elementary (4&5th grade) and, 3rd grade and under. Also, trophies to top High School(9-12), Middle School(6-8) and, Elementary School(K-5) teams (3 player teams).Team score is sum of top three players from the same school. Elementary school teams can have players in both the Championship and Reserve sections. For calculating the team score, 2.5 is added to the scores of players in the Championship section.
Reserve: K-5 Under 500, 5SS, G/30 (open to players from any state)
Trophies to top 5 and top 3 unrated. Trophies to top 3 teams (3 or more players from the same school). Trophies to top players in each section.
US Chess Federation membership is required. New USCF members should join the USCF at http://www.uschess.org before registering to get an ID number or join with their registration. All at-the-door US Chess federation memberships will be assessed a $5 handling charge.
Entrance Fees: $15 if received by 1/25 (online or mailed), $20 if received by 2/5, $25 online by 7pm on 2/6, or $30 at the door.

Online entries are at http://mdgirls08.eventbrite.com/ . At the door registration is from 8:00am-9am. All at-the-door registrations will receive 1st round ½ point bye. All online entries received before 7pm on 11/18 will be paired for the first round.
Rounds: 1st round for both starts @ 10:00 sharp. Note that pairings will be made Friday night, so players should be ready to play at their 1st round start time.
Food will be available for purchase at the site.
Directions: From Baltimore Beltway take Ext 23B, Falls Road North. Turn right at first light onto Joppa Road. After 1.5 miles turn left at light onto Thornton Road. After 0.25 mile turn left onto Landrake Road. School is on your left. See the links to maps on the upper right of the registration page.
